Founder and Lead Tutor
Cherelle is a certified Georgia educator with 8 years of teaching experience. She possesses a Gifted endorsement, as well as a Health and Physical Education endorsement for PreK-12. She is currently pursuing a Math endorsement. She is experienced engaging students in the classroom, introducing new problem-solving strategies, implementing interactive lessons school-wide, and collaborating with other educators to maximize instruction.
Cherelle currently serves as a Math Coach in the Rockdale County Public School System. In this role, she serves as a math specialist for kindergarten through fifth grade. Cherelle models lessons, facilitates professional development, performs observations, and assists in the collection and analysis of data.
As a former Math Specialist for Atlanta Public Schools she analyzed school and student data and recommended modifications to instruction and interventions for students to meet and exceed student achievement goals. She used the data to collaborate with teachers to ensure students are able to grasp the concepts laid out in the standards and to drive instructional planning. She provided intensive instruction to struggling students individually and in small groups, planned and conducted professional development opportunities for educators, and assisted in the development of school and district mathematics curriculum and interventions.
As a former 3rd and 5th grade teacher for Rockdale County, she used creative lesson planning to engage students in active learning. She implemented a math problem of the week and introduced Box Diagramming to students on the daily BTV News Program at Honey Creek Elementary School. She used technology to enhance instruction, as well as increase communication with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders.
In her first year of eligibility, Cherelle was awarded Teacher of the Year by her peers for exhibiting exemplary teaching strategies targeting all students in her classroom. Maintaining an approachable atmosphere, her students thrived under her guidance.
Cherelle also spent a year teaching 4th grade for the Abu Dhabi Education Council. During that time, she delivered math, science, and reading instruction to English language learners and supported students’ bi-literacy development by introducing language concepts, skills, and key terminologies in both Arabic and English.
She also has experience delivering one-on-one English language lessons online, where she provides the American elementary school experience to Chinese students by integrating math, social studies, and science content into English language instruction. She engages parents and guardians by providing timely and thorough feedback following each session.
Cherelle received her Master of Arts in Teaching in 2010 from Mercer University and her Bachelor of Arts in Audio Production and Human Development in 2007 from Howard University. She is a member of the Georgia Association of Educators, National Education Association, and is an Education Leader and Mentor through the National Youth Leadership Forum: Pathways to STEM.
